It turns out Tool fans will have to wait a little longer for the band's long-awaited new album.
Word that guitarist Adam Jones had said the follow-up to 2006's 10,000 Days was "100-percent done" began making its way around the Internet late last week. But Jones has since taken to Twitter to explain that the comment was just an off-the-cuff joke.
It was apparently made in a private conversation with fans at Tool's recent concert in Portland, Oregon.
hello greg. fyi "the record's done and its coming out tomorrow" is what i said yesterday followed by "just kidding"...— adam jones (@AdamJones_tv) March 7, 2014
The band has released an official statement saying that work on the new album is ongoing, and they promise that they'll be the first to let everyone know as soon as it's finished.
